SEO War Games

Is Google targeting National SEO more then Local?  The answer is yes!

Google is pushing local like crack to kids on a playground!  Why?  They believe that searchers want local results from all searches.. you know what.. for the most part they are right!

Is a Places page the answer?  Hmmm.... Well they do rank.  It more depends on the niche.  If you are a restaurant, a dry cleaner, a plumber... you MUST have a Google Places Page.

I've only had 2 1/2 beers and only finishing my first of three conference calls tonight.. ugh.. my ADD is kicking in!

What was I talking about?

It's time for a break - SEO Sucks!

So over the past few weeks Google has been on a D-Day Style Offensive.  Dropping bombs all over the internet and not worrying about collateral damage.  They seem to be playing a game with us that no one can figure out.  My advice... don't try!

Take a bit of a SEO Break.. Google won't keep up these games for ever and eventually the dust will settle and we'll be able to come up with a new game plan.  Until then look to do things like buying traffic and re-targeting to convert previous visitors.

What you don't want to do is implement aggressive strategies when your site might be under a microscope.  If you are a SEO Professional now might be the time for a much needed vacation.

What are we doing at RCBryan & Associates.. well we never rest but also know when we should and should not be fighting.  We are taking all of our tactics and turning them into training programs.  We are creating about a dozen different 1-5 hour training programs to teach people the basics of making money on the internet.  We are expecting to go live with our products in just a few weeks.

While advanced strategies may be changing the basics never do - having a good quality website with good quality content never goes out of style.  Proper branding and funnel development also are mainstays to our industry.

Keep posted as we launch our new services.  When we have more info on the SEO 'War' Games - we'll post it!

Social Engagement - Ezines

So I took the time today to link my www.ezinearticles.com profile to my Google+ profile and I was surprised to see that you could now link all your social platforms to your ezines account.  They have not only added a social platform inside the site but that have also integrated with all the major SM  Platforms.  They also are using the badge system to create excitement and a sense of accomplishment for their users.

lastly, I noticed they are now ranking you in each of the categories you've posted in and telling you how many articles you'll need to increase your rankings.  All great stuff!

Article marketing at least on the high end is coming back!  Are you positioned to take advantage of this?

Contracts

When someone puts a contract in front of you and asks you 'Do you Trust Me'?  Here is what you do... flip them off.. call a lawyer... and tell them to kiss your ass!  Anyone that has the nerves to say something like that is only trying to rip you off.

Google+

New Template design gives you the option to upload to Google+ with each post.  Social signals grow.  As I blog my entire social Klout Grows... .speaking of that I need to check my www.klout.com it has slipped a bit as I was busy starting my new company.

A lot of catching up to do!

More on Social Signals

Think I got the buttons to work on my primary site.  They do take a while to pull up... maybe 15 seconds but that is fine.

I also added a widget to this blog to and added it top socialadr.com

Getting there.. social is important.. got the get a grip on it

Slick Social Share

Seemed to work.. does a slide in on a scroll.. worked in chrome.. then disappeared.. Grrrr

Social Buttons

Added <simple social buttons> killed my site.. what a mess!  Try #1 didn't go so well.. may need to use a HTML version instead of a plugin

SocialAdr

Why do you send me to a long form when I click the sign up button?

$100 per month for LinkAHolic Account... already cheaper then Syndd

Payment portal is PayPal.. what ever

Email Confirmation required.. normal

I'm in.. 2 min training video.. nice.. so good you can't believe it??? Funny,... already seems easier them Syndd ( do you notice I don't like Syndd)?

Really.. a single form to fill out.. that's it?  No guessing.. FU Syndd.. muahhahahahaha

Bookmark account set-up.... 60 seconds.. damn I like this

I need to add social signals to my site.. think I've asked two different developers to do that.  Guess I'm doing it myself.  Break

Current Problems

One of the issues I face is the loss in ranking to my primary branding sites www.rcbryan.com this is something I truly need to fix.

My drop came 3 weeks ago with the release of Panda 3.3.  I do blame my self for inherent laziness in the use of blog networks and a script that I wrote.  It made ranking a page way to easy.

My post process was as follows:
- Post to WP (built in SEO & Pinging)
- Email list (17,000 people) via a newsletter plugin
- Post to Curl Script in SN & SLVE (abbreviations used to protect networks)

Within 24 hour every single one of my pages ranked on the first page of Google for very competitive keywords.  Child's Play.. that lasted 18 month.  I can remember telling friends that my script had a short life cycle.  I thought it would get stolen before Google found it.. Oh well..

What have I done in the past three week
- One 90 campaign on 4 keywords from Submit Serve
- One 30 campaign on 4 keywords to a landing page from Submit Serve
- 2 Email Blasts out to list
- Syndd Account (didn't like and now testing SocialAdr) - In fact after this post I'm going to set that account up.

Other elements to consider
- Site had recently been redesigned
- Server had been moved
- Large section of site was deleted because it was not function (worker manager)
- Site load speed was poor because of image, cache, and server issues (overload on MySql from another site)

blah blah blah.. what a mess..  Rankings feel from top 3 to page 3-4.. in three weeks I've moved the site back to the first page (most of top keywords)

great place to vent and get my thoughts out into the world.  Can't do this on my site as it tends to lean away from corporate sales.. Time for SocialAdr.. be back

Getting Started

It's been six weeks since I was 'separated' from the company I founded in 2006.   I'll leave it at that for now.

In the past six weeks I've been forced to start a new company.. well I guess I could have went out and got a job but who the hell wants to do that.

One of the things I've been struggling with is down time.  This is the time between phone calls and projects where I just need to unwind a bit.  It just dawned on me that this would be a great time to be blogging.  Having place to vent frustrations and ponder ideas is something I need.

So lets get stated
